MSc: Food innovation quality and safety

The aim of the MSc course is to offer a high level of postgraduate education and to promote knowledge and research in the scientific field of Food Science, by providing students with specialized knowledge on Food Science and Technology and their application in the development of processes and safe food products of premium quality.

A high level of training, enables students to develop skills applied in the scientific methodology of food evaluation and quality control, safety management, experimental design and development of new products. During the studies, the students are expected to understand modern industrial techniques, analytical and sensory control methods and proactive modeling practices, international quality and safety management standards, and the impact of legislation on food products. The educational process includes lectures and laboratory exercises, seminars, case studies and assignments, supervised participation in research activities and preparation of a Master’s thesis.

The postgraduate course leads to the award of “FOOD SCIENCE: INNOVATION AND SAFETY-Postgraduate diploma” after the successful completion of students’ obligations in relation to all the thematic units of the MSc course’s curriculum. The Postgraduate Diploma is awarded by the Department of Food Science and Technology of the University of West Attica.
