Academic Fellow

Tsiaka Thalia is a chemist with a PhD in Analytical Chemistry (2019) and a MSc degree in Analytical Chemistry and Quality Control (2012) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

From 2019, she is a Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Chemical Biology (ICB) of National and Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF) and from 2020 a Teaching Fellow in Instrumental Food Analysis and Chemical Composition & Quality of Food at the Department of Food Science and Technology, University of West Attica. In 2008, she interned as analytical chemist at General Chemical State Laboratory and she was also a grant-holder of ‘A. Papadakis’ scholarship of NKUA (2009-2011).

Her main fields of research include: (a) Health and food sciences with emphasis in LCMS analyses and LCMS targeted and untargeted metabolomics/bioanalysis (b) Post-data processing/analysis/interpretation, (c) Analysis of targeted bioactive compounds in drugs and cosmetics, food matrices or natural (by)products and biological fluids (serum, plasma, amniotic fluid, urine), (d) Experimental design and optimization of green eco-friendly extraction techniques.

She has participated in three national funded research projects and she is a referee at three scientific journals. Thus far, she is the author and co-author of 13 research articles and one book chapter in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and she has participated in various oral and poster presentations at international and hellenic conferences.
